The temptation to steal is more powerful than we might initially imagine. We usually think of it as a violation of someone else’s property rights, and we frown upon stealing because it is bad for society. This Sunday, as we consider the commandment that prohibits stealing, we will consider the angle of Ephesians 4, where the Bible does not talk about how bad stealing is for society, but instead helps us see that the habit of stealing actually robs the thief of the opportunity to make a positive contribution.
